Compliments of the Queen

The newest addition to my little art collection:

Found by my Mom, who is the best thrifter ever (seriously, she finds the BEST stuff). She discovered some amazing vintage maps of Paris and London on her last excursion, and this quirky little piece is a page that was tucked inside the book of maps. And the owners gave it to her (get this) for FREE! In terms of the frame, I was going to go with my usual plain black, but when my framer (who happens to be really talented at what he does) suggested gold I realized how nicely the color complemented the red crown. Then I chose this ornate, European looking frame, and I think it goes perfectly with the whole royal, English vibe of the piece.

I love the story behind this and I love how it's a unique, vintage, unusual piece that you're definitely not going to see anywhere else. Plus it's just quirky, kind of funny, and eye-catching. Oh, and with the Queen's recent Diamond Jubilee, it's just so very on trend :). Definitely one of my new favorite things!

Coffee Table Remix

I said I would do it, and I made good on my declaration. Distortion candlestick + hot pink candle = over the top awesomeness.

Adding some much needed height to my coffee table.

Pretty and interesting from all angles!

This inspired me to do a quick re-styling of my coffee table (is it weird that I find that really fun? Possibly). I added in my Rifle coasters, which coordinated nicely, along with some pink-accented coffee table books. It all ties in with my hopefully-can't-tell-they're-fake flowers, AND my new feather tray from Jayson Home & Garden! So excited for that-of course discovered via Danielle's blog Breakfast at Toast. My apartment was definitely crying out for a little touch of gold, and I love how it coordinates with the little black and gold Laduree box.

Love, love, love. And can I just mention how sweet and nice the folks over at Jayson Home & Garden were? The tray was on backorder and they sent me several very professional and considerate e-mails apologizing for that fact and updating me on the status of my item. Plus they included a hand written thank you note in the package. Um, wow. So customer service does still exist? (In the Midwest, anyway).
